World Cup Management Speak #8

8 July 2014 / by Ashley Freeman

Round 8.

We’re now at the business end of the tournament, and Joachim Low is pulling no punches in lead up to Germany’s 4th consecutive WC semi-final. According to him Brazil have little flair, which is like saying to a German that their passing triangles are not perfectly equilateral.

He’s got a point thought, given that Brazil practically kicked the Columbians off the pitch last Friday in a match that saw more fouls committed (54) than any other at this tournament up to that point.

Indeed this is not a Brazil team brimming with Romario’s, Ronaldo’s and Rivaldo’s, but 90 mins stands between them and the final, so surely it’s a simple matter of “win 1st, look good 2nd???”
