So, INVOLVE are doing their bit this year with everyone (some people) baking and selling cakes to all their friends, neighbours and relatives that reside at Riverside House, with all the proceeds going to Comic Relief. Extortionate prices will be charged for hugely average baked products, but you just can’t say no to a scrumptious “Ash Brownie” or nice slice of Jonny’s “Banana-Drama-Bread”, plus it’s all for charity mate. Get involved.
INVOLVE recently ran a session at a Melcrum members event that involved everyone in helping to identify the internal comms channels to invest in for 2013.
Our intention was to both demonstrate involvement and make use of the collective expertise in the room to gain useful insight for the future. Hoefully it worked!
The following link http://involve.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/involve_info_RGB.png directs you to an info graphic of the results, which should hopefully serve as a good indicator of where we should all place our bets.

Good luck for 2013.
We thought it would be good to share the Christmas cheer with some festive fun this year.
Click on the link below to see our wintry wonderland containing hidden Christmas references. Six of the images represent Christmas songs and the other six are Christmas films, and your challenge is to guess what they are!

Good luck, Merry Christmas and hopefully we see you in the new year.

We’ve received quite a few briefs recently for creating cascade tools to help managers communicate key messages to their teams, and I’ve also seen a few discussions on LinkedIn about the same thing, so it compelled me to add this to our blog.
There’s never a one-size-fits-all when designing these kinds of tools, but there are a few principles that are worth considering. Here are mine:
1. Get your leaders bought-in and aligned behind the key messages
2. Be clear on your objectives and cross reference them throughout the planning and delivery
3. Keep the overall message simple, regardless of the audience
4. Choose the right channels and medium for your business
5. Bottom up not top down – involve line managers asap to get their input and buy-in
6. Ask employees to step forward and volunteer as champions
7. Use face-to-face as it’s the most effective way to increase understanding, belief and commitment
8. Make the cascade process competitive and give it exposure in the business
9. Recognise success
10. Demonstrate ROI back to the business
I recently found this great article which is one the best I’ve read in some time about involvement.
It talks about the service spirit within the Olympic volunteers which has been absolutely contagious, and because of that we conducted a few interviews with some of the Games Makers to understand what makes them tick.
