Supporting The Anthony Nolan Trust

3 February 2017 / by Ashley Freeman

Why Anthony Nolan Trust?

We at INVOLVE are delighted to announce that in 2017, we will be flexing our fundraising muscles to support and partner with The Anthony Nolan Trust. In case you haven’t heard of Anthony Nolan, they are a charity which provides cancer patients with the bone marrow donors that help save lives.

This is a cause very close to my heart as in April 2013 I received a bone marrow donor from The Trust. During the London Olympics in 2012 I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer. A year later an anonymous donor donated their bone marrow and saved my life. It is this unique brand of philanthropy which makes The Trust such an amazing charity.

Supporting our team’s charities is not a new initiative here at INVOLVE as we’ve always embraced the notion of profit with purpose. Previously we have supported: Crewing for Crohn’s, Team Rubicon and we have an ongoing relationship with The British Red Cross and The British Heart Foundation. As I’m sure was the case with my colleagues who have had the opportunity to nominate their charity previously, it is a massive motivator to know that I can contribute some of my time to something I am so passionate about.

So what have we got planned?

I will be honing my public speaking skills and going back to my old school, AGS in Bucks to talk to Sixth Formers about my battle with a debilitating condition and how The Anthony Nolan Trust helped me. In the process I’m hopeful I’ll recruit a few people to The Register.

We have a number of fitness challenges the team is preparing for – Shaun T’s Insanity DVD is getting a good workout most weekday evenings as the team don their sweat bands! We will be running The Vitality British London 10k as a team to raise money for The Trust and are embarking on another Team Tough Mudder this April.

Please take a look at my JustGiving Fundraising Page, and if you can, spare a few pounds for a great cause. Or, if you would like to run with our team, we would love you to join us. Just let me know!

The highlight of the calendar is the INVOLVE inaugural Corporate Rounders Day which will take place on 20 July on Richmond Green. So, we would love to hear from you if you might be keen to get a few or your own team together for a few hours of fun in the Summer sun.

Thanks!

Neil
